MORE: Where every Gorillaz song and album has charted in the UK

The Mountain finds fictional band members Murdoc Niccals, Russel Hobbs, 2D and Noodle in India, having turned their backs on international pop stardom, now focused on mystical music-making.

And to get fans even more excited, a new single titled The Happy Dictator featuring Sparks was also released yesterday, giving us a taste of what The Mountain will encompass.

The Mountain features artists performing in five languages; Arabic, English, Hindi, Spanish and Yoruba.

As well as this, in typical Gorillaz fashion their list of collaborators is full of music royalty. This includes the likes of Johnny Marr, IDLES and Gruff Rhys. Moreover, there are also features listed as ‘Voices From Elsewhere’, which are features from deceased artists such as Bobby Womack, who collaborated with The Gorillaz on multiple projects.

This news also comes after the British group announced that they would be relaunching Kong Studios as an online video game.

When is Gorillaz’s new album The Mountain released?

The Mountain is set to be released on March 20 2026.

The new single The Happy Dictator is available on multiple streaming platforms and can be listened to below.
