Newcastle United midfielder Jacob Ramsey claimed he was fit and ready to play before Eddie Howe confirmed he is missing the next month of action.
After two weeks away from club competition, two of Eddie Howe’s players were missing from the Magpies’ Premier League win against Wolves on Saturday.
Newcastle United got their first win of the season, thanks to a debut goal from Nick Woltemade, who got on the end of Jacob Murphy’s cross in the first half.
However, Jacob Ramsey and Yoane Wissa were confirmed absentees for the game, with the former still feeling the effects of a nasty tackle against Leeds United before the international break. For Wissa, there is concern that he has suffered a serious knee injury after seemingly getting his studs caught in the turf during an international game in DR Congo.
Howe confirmed Ramsey is set to miss the next month of action, but the Englishman had a different opinion in a recent interview.

Newcastle fans blamed Sean Longstaff for Ramsey’s injury. It was the former Newcastle man who put in the tackle which caused his replacement’s ankle to swell up.
Ramsey’s injury blow means that Howe will be without him during the first busy period of the season, which includes a tiring seven games in 23 days.
However, Ramsey was more than happy to claim that he was fit and ready to play in a recent interview with Pete Graves of Sky Sports.
“Yeah, I’m all good, he said.
“Looking forward to the game on the weekend. Another home game, obviously, I’ve experienced a home game against Liverpool, so yeah, looking forward to playing in front of the fans here.”
Jacob Ramsey assesses Newcastle United’s summer transfer window
Ramsey thinks Howe can seriously improve him at Newcastle. The 24-year-old’s ultimate goal is to get into the England squad and make a name for himself on the international stage.
It is a World Cup year, so Ramsey will need to do a lot to impress Thomas Tuchel if he wants to be on the plane to North America. He does not have long, and his month out will not do him any favours.
Ramsey was on of six senior additions to Newcastle, with the likes of Woltemade and Malick Thiaw also joining during the summer transfer window. The midfielder believes the Magpies are onto a winner with their new signings.
“The (transfer) window’s closed now, we’ve made some top signings,” he added in the same interview.
“If you look at the squad as a whole, the squad is really good, really strong in every position. Looking forward to the game on Saturday, so hopefully we’ll get the first three points and go from there.”
