Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe concluded the 2025 Vuelta a España with a solid showing across the three weeks of racing, marked by consistent performances in the general classification and a stage victory.

From the opening stages, the team’s approach was clear: support Jai Hindley in his bid for a top five GC placing while giving Giulio Pellizzari the chance to continue his development in Grand Tours, and allow the squad’s riders to take their chances for stage wins. After the mountaintop finish in Andorra on Stage 6, Pellizzari moved into the white jersey of the best young rider, and by the first rest day both he and Hindley were well placed in the top ten overall. As the race moved into the decisive second week, they confirmed their status among the best climbers in the race. Hindley’s third place on the Alto de l’Angliru underlined his steady form, while Pellizzari rode with maturity on this decisive stage to finish sixth.

A standout moment of the race for the team came on Stage 17 to Alto de El Morredero, where Pellizzari claimed his first professional victory. Launching his move on the final climb, he held his advantage to the finish to secure a memorable stage victory. Hindley crossed the line in third, rounding out one of the best days of the Vuelta for the team.

In the final mountain test on Stage 20 to Bola del Mundo, Hindley once again delivered a strong performance to take third place on the stage, and while unable to take the podium place in the GC, his solid ride ensured he took fourth overall in Madrid. Pellizzari, who had carried the white jersey for much of the race, slipped to second in the young rider classification on that stage but still concluded the race with sixth place in the general classification, a strong result in his second Grand Tour of the year.

Across 21 stages, the team achieved several of its initial objectives, with a stage win and a top-five finish in the general classification, to conclude the final Grand Tour of the year.

“We can be proud of what we achieved. We fought until the very end, for the podium with Jai, and for me it was really special to wear the white jersey for so long. We had a strong group here, we worked well together, and we also enjoyed ourselves along the way. These three weeks gave us beautiful moments, and I think we can be happy with everything we built as a team.”

Patxi Vila, Sports Director:

“We came to the Vuelta with the ambition of winning a stage, maybe even two, and fighting for a top five in the GC with Jai. We knew it would be difficult given the strength of the field. With Giulio Pellizzari it was also about seeing how far he could go in a race like this. Looking back, I think we can hold our heads high. Giulio took his first professional win, and to do that in a Grand Tour, against riders like Pidcock, Vingegaard, and Almeida, is a big step forward for him and for the team as a whole.

With Jai, we saw him getting back to his best. He was fighting for the podium until the very last stage, and in the end, just 30 seconds made the difference. The way he rode, the way he handled the challenges of this Vuelta, showed his quality and his character.

I also want to underline the teamwork and atmosphere in the group. Especially on Stage 17, the preparation and commitment from all the riders was excellent, and it paid off with Giulio’s victory. From start to finish of the entire race, the riders supported each other well, fought for the best possible outcome, and delivered a strong collective performance. We also had some strong breakaway efforts, with Nico Denz in particular showing the team’s attacking spirit throughout the race.

Of course, it’s a little frustrating to be so close to the podium and not make it, but we take it positively. It gives us motivation to fight for the podium again in the next Grand Tours. With a stage win, Jai fourth overall, Giulio sixth, we can be very satisfied with this Vuelta.”
