Demi Lovato is ushering in a new era for her upcoming album by stripping down.

On Monday, the singer announced her ninth studio album, It’s Not That Deep, which was preceded by the release of its lead single, “Fast,” over the summer and the latest single, “Here All Night,” which dropped last Friday.

Lovato also unveiled the album’s cover, which has her standing nude in front of a blue screen, holding onto a pink dress in dry-clean wrapping to cover her nudity. People around her are taking selfies, playing chess, reading a newspaper, and socializing, seemingly not noticing Lovato’s presence.

“This music is a reflection of where i am now. so proud of all the work I’ve done, and now, it’s time to celebrate and have some fun!!!” Lovato captioned the Instagram post sharing the cover. “Thank you [Daniel Sachon] and [Imogen Strauss]  for helping me to make the cover art of my dreams. We created the most beautifully chaotic scene surrounding me, and you know I had to lock the f— in.”

She added, “And thank you to my lovatics — I love you and I’ll never let you go. Pre-order the album now and let’s dance!! it’s not that deep era starts now ⏩🌙💋🫂❤️🎈”

The post’s second slide gives fans a look behind the scenes of the album cover’s shoot, which shows Lovato posing in nude underwear as the extras run around the scene.

Lovato shared more about her new project in a release, writing, “This music is a perfect reflection of where I’m at today. I had such an incredible time making this album with Zhone and it was such a freeing experience to let loose and have fun with it. With my past eras, I often wrote cathartic music about heavy topics that I needed to process.”

The “Cool for the Summer” pop singer, who recently married singer-songwriter Jordan Lutes, continued, “When I got back in the studio this time around, those songs just weren’t resonating anymore because I’m not in that place in life. I’m happy, I’m in love, and I just want to enjoy life and have fun. I realized it’s not that deep anymore, and that became the ethos for this album. It’s Not That Deep is meant for late nights and dancefloors, and I can’t wait for you all to dance with me.”

The release of It’s Not That Deep has been ushered by a more playful Lovato, which is perhaps most evident by her reunion with the Jonas Brothers for their 20th anniversary tour, JONAS20: Greetings From Your Hometown tour.

Lovato and the trio shared the stage for the first time in over a decade in a surprise appearance celebrating their beloved Disney Channel Original Movie franchise, Camp Rock . The singer joined the boys onstage halfway through “Gotta Find You” to perform her part of their iconic duet, as well as “This Is Me” from the first movie and “Wouldn’t Change a Thing” from Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam.

“I think it’s time that we all walk down this memory lane to celebrate a little movie called Camp Rock,” Nick announced to the crowd before the big moment.

2008’s Camp Rock was Lovato’s big breakout role as aspiring singer Mitchie Torres who falls in love with pop star Shane Gray (Joe) at a summer music camp. Nick and Kevin starred in the movie as the other two members of Shane’s band, Connect3. In addition to starring together in a sequel, Lovato and Joe also dated in real life.

During a visit to the Chicks in the Office podcast shortly after, Lovato shared that it all began when she got a call from her ex-boyfriend and former costar, Joe Jonas.

“[He] was like, ‘Hey, what are you doing next weekend on the 10th? We would love to have you come and perform ‘This Is Me’ and ‘Wouldn’t Change a Thing.’ You’ve been a huge part of our journey and … this show is really important to us and we would love to have you there,'” Lovato recounted. “It was so nice. We’ve been through so much together, all of us, the Jonas Brothers and I, and it was really, really great to spend time with them.”

The singer added that before the concert began, she got to share a cathartic moment with the brothers and her husband.

“They came to my room all three of them and spent time getting to know my husband, which was really meaningful to me,” Lovato said. “And they just thanked me profusely for flying across the country to perform with them and it was just so thoughtful and I felt so appreciated and it was really healing for us. I loved it. Every second of it was so great.”
