St Helens fan favourite Konrad Hurrell has left the club and it’s now been confirmed where he will be playing next season.
The ‘Hurrellcane’ has signed a deal with French club Lezignan who play in the top flight of French rugby league, now known as the Super XIII.
Hurrell was de-registered from St Helens in late August when the club announced the loan signing of Shane Wright from Salford Red Devils, with the Tongan international occupying a needed overseas quota spot.
A more formal goodbye to Hurrell came over the weekend with club media releasing a video with the centre in which he reflected on his time at the club, as well as his recovery from last year’s ‘serious injury’.
Hurrell required surgery on his neck and despite coming through it, he only played one game for St Helens in 2025, playing most of his season out on loan with Bradford, Halifax and Swinton.
It’s now confirmed that he won’t hang up the boots with the 34-year-old instead set to head to France, with the season starting later this month.
St Helens fan favourite Konrad Hurrell signs for Super XIII side
Lezignan announced his signing via their social media with a club statement confirming his arrival ahead of the new campaign.
First signed to Super League in 2019, Hurrell joined Leeds Rhinos after playing for New Zealand Warriors and Gold Coast Titans. During his time at Leeds, he won the Challenge Cup but became a fan favourite in his time at St Helens.
Serious About Rugby League has launched a brand new podcast which can be watched in full on our YouTube channel here.
He’d win the Grand Final in his first season and the World Club Challenge in his second, departing now after four years playing in the Red Vee.
Taking to Facebook, Lezignan announced him as an “experienced player who has come to complete the Lesignanais pack, particularly following the resignation of Pone Tongia.”
That would suggest that Hurrell will actually be played in the second-row, somewhere he has been utilised on very rare occasions when necessary.
