One couple will call quits on their marriage after four years in heartbreaking episodes set to air next week. Viewers can expect even more drama on the cobbles in next week’s episodes as Abi Webster finally decides to end her marriage to Kevin.
Over the past year, Abi (Sally Carman) has faced immense stress as her husband Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell) announced the devastating news that he had been diagnosed with cancer. Abi stood by his side throughout his chemotherapy journey and the Weatherfield mechanic has since been given the all-clear.
Amid the worry, Abi’s intense emotions seemed to be expressed in the form of lust towards another man. She found herself falling for Kevin’s brother Carl. Played by Jonathon Howard, Carl Webster only arrived on the cobbles a few months ago but was quick to ruffle feathers.
Kevin only made things worse for himself when he decided to lie to his family and friends about his cancer being gone. He was keen to have Abi’s attention for a few more months with the hopes of making her fall back in love with him.
The Weatherfield mechanic was pretending he was still battling cancer and even going so far to pretend he had been undergoing chemotherapy in a desperate attempt to stop his wife from leaving him, reports the Daily Star.

However, when Kevin’s secret was revealed, Abi felt betrayed and ended up running straight into Carl’s arms. Their lustful affair has gone from strength to strength, with Abi even avoiding a family holiday with Kevin so she could spend more time with Carl.
But after months of sneaking around, Coronation Street spoilers have confirmed that Abi is set to end her marriage to Kevin. At the start of next week, Kevin gets the all clear from the doctors as he goes for a last cancer check with Abi by his side.
Kevin floods with relief but Abi hides her unease, especially when Kevin expresses how much he’s looking forward to them growing old together.
Abi meets up with Carl and tells him she hates leading a double life and lying to Kevin. Back at home, Kevin suggests they spend their retirement doing up old cars. Abi realises she can’t lie to Kevin anymore and drops the bombshell that she thinks they should break up.
Later in the week, Kevin tells Tyrone about his break up with Abi and how he suspects she might be having an affair with Carl. Meanwhile in the hotel bedroom, Abi snuggles up next to Carl and suggests it’s time for them to run away together and start a new life. Debbie pays Carl an unexpected visit and is shocked to find Abi there.
