Cesc Fabregas was absolutely incredible during his time at Arsenal.
The Spaniard burst onto the scene as a teenager under Arsene Wenger, and he went on to become one of the best midfielders in the Premier League.
Arsenal have had a few great midfielders since Fabregas left the club. The likes of Santi Cazorla, Mesut Ozil and Martin Odegaard are all brilliant.
Now, there’s another one who has been compared to Fabregas.
Martin Keown explains why Arsenal star Martin Zubimendi is similar to Cesc Fabregas
Cesc Fabregas and Martin Zubimendi share a few similarities, but they have their differences as well.
The former was more of an attacking midfielder or an attack-minded number eight, and he was absolutely brilliant in that role.
Zubimendi, on the other hand, is naturally a defensive midfielder, and he has been excellent for Arsenal since he joined them.
Despite the difference in position, Arsenal legend Martin Keown has compared the two Spaniards because it’s all about precision for both of them.
Speaking on TNT Sports ahead of their broadcast of Arsenal’s Champions League opener against Athletic Club on Tuesday night, Keown said: “We have to look at the midfield. We have a Spanish midfield; they’re going home.
“Zubimendi is a bit of a Fabregas-like player for me. He goes under the radar. Everything is precision. His goals he scored at the weekend…
“Also, Merino, he’s another one in the national team, we’re in good hands.”

Arsenal’s difficult run of fixtures continues, with a game against Manchester City coming up next.
The Gunners smashed Pep Guardiola’s side 5-1 in their last meeting, and fans will absolutely love it if there’s a repeat of that on Sunday.
Zubimendi will come up against Rodri in the middle of the park when Arsenal take on City. The latter is the preferred option in the Spanish national team when everyone is fully fit.
That is a shame for the Arsenal man, but that can change this weekend.
If Zubimendi outshines Rodri and produces an excellent display, he will make a big statement that he is ready to displace the Manchester City star in the Spanish national team.
That could prove to be huge ahead of the World Cup next summer.
