Paul Mescal and Barry Keoghan were spotted leaving a Liverpool restaurant tonight. The actors were spotted bonding over a meal with Harris Dickinson at Maray in Bold Street on Wednesday evening.
The three are set to star in the upcoming Beatles biopics, being directed by Sir Sam Mendes. Whether exploring the city before filming kickstarts, or merely getting to know each other, whatever they are up to in the city will no doubt be exciting for fans.
The ECHO spoke to Paul Mescal, who will play Sir Paul McCartney. The actor was very complimentary of his time in Liverpool, having visited several times before.
When asked if he is enjoying his visit with his acting co-stars, the 29-year-old actor said: “We’re having the best time here yeah, it’s great.”
But Mescal remained tight-lipped about the reason for his evening meeting in the city alongside his fellow Beatles actors. He said: “I’m not allowed to say why, but we’re having a great time.”
Sony Pictures announced there will be four films, with an April 2028 release date, directed by British filmmaker Sir Sam Mendes. Each film will tell the story from each band member’s point of view.

Alongside Mescal, fellow Irish actor Barry Keoghan takes on the role of Sir Ringo Starr in the new collection of films.
Also revealed to be featuring in the cast are Babygirl star and British actor Harris Dickinson, who will play John Lennon, while Mescal’s Gladiator II co-star Joseph Quinn portrays George Harrison.
Speaking at the CinemaCon convention in Las Vegas earlier this year, Sir Sam called the films the “first binge-able theatrical experience”. He added that he has been “trying to make a story about The Beatles for years.”
The new and exciting project marks the first time Apple Corps Ltd and The Beatles – Sir Paul, Sir Ringo, and the families of Lennon and Harrison – have granted full life story and music rights for a scripted film.

Sir Ringo has previously spoken about the biopic, on Entertainment Tonight he said: “I believe he’s somewhere taking drum lessons, and I hope not too many”, letting slip that Saltburn star Keoghan had taken on the role.
Previous films about the Beatles include Nowhere Boy, about Lennon growing up in Liverpool, starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson. The Beatles themselves also starred in a number of movies during their incredible careers.
Maray staff declined to comment when approached by the ECHO.
