If you flip on late-night TV these days, you’re not going to find much. Sure, there’s the local news and the occasional sports rerun, but as of May 2026, Stephen Colbert will be off the air — and now Jimmy Kimmel isn’t there either.
Jimmy Kimmel Live! was recently suspended indefinitely by ABC following remarks he made about the death of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk. Kimmel said during a taping of his show, “We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it.”
Fans of Kimmel quickly rallied behind the comedian on social media, blasting ABC for its decision and calling the suspension an attack on free speech. But beyond memes and viral posts, supporters are finding another way to stand with the late-night host: by buying his children’s book.

The Serious Goose by Jimmy Kimmel
Kimmel’s picture book The Serious Goose, originally released in 2019, has suddenly climbed back onto bestseller charts. The 40-page hardcover, filled with playful illustrations and Kimmel’s words, was written for young readers but has found new life amid the controversy. And in true Kimmel fashion, he pledged that all proceeds of the book would be donated to the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles.
According to Amazon‘s official product description, “this picture book challenges young readers to bring the silly out of a very Serious Goose. Inspired by Jimmy’s nickname for his kids, The Serious Goose reminds us to be silly in a serious way. Put your little comedians in front of a mylar mirror and challenge them to make this no-nonsense goose smile. This delightful read-aloud is guaranteed to create gaggles of giggles time and time again!”
The Serious Goose Plush Toy
With over 4,000 five-star reviews, online customers continue to rave about the book. One reviewer called it “a fantastic addition to any child’s bookshelf, perfect for sparking laughter and creativity.” Another wrote, “Got it for a silly goose kiddo, but ended up buying another copy for myself!”
For fans who want to bring the story to life, there’s even a Serious Goose plush toy available at Walmart for under $20. Meanwhile, the hardcover book is selling on Amazon for less than $10 (currently on sale) — though given the recent surge in interest, it may not stay in stock for long. Barnes & Noble and Walmart also have copies available.
Sometimes it’s hard to know how to show support when a public figure faces heat. But for Kimmel’s followers, it looks like buying a children’s book — one that gives back to charity — has become an unexpected way to do just that.
