Liam Cavanagh will break his silence on Emmerdale as he experiences some health problems, though the developments will devastate Chas Dingle in emotional scenes.

The doctor has been experiencing issues with his bladder in recent times, with this week’s scenes seeing him confide in colleague Claudette Anderson after she found him urinating in the allotment.

She suggested that he get checked out by a fellow doctor, though Liam initially shrugged off the suggestion that it was anything serious. After some reflection, he did slowly consider Claudette’s words.

Next week’s scenes will see Claudette urge her friend to undergo a prostate examination, though he insists that nothing serious is going on before ordering her to cancel the appointment.

Despite her pleas to consider his health, Liam ignores the advice of his colleague and soldiers on, though he gets a shock as Manpreet Sharma catches him urinating in the basin in his consulting room.

Knowing that the situation is potentially very serious, Liam tells Chas everything about his health, and shares his opinion that he may have prostate cancer. Chas, who has previously battled through a cancer diagnosis, can’t hide her devastation at Liam’s words.

While Liam will soon be faced with a decision over his health, an insider for the ITV soap recently discussed the figure’s previous scenes with Claudette, where they said the doctor was “embarrassed”.

“But rather than pretend the awkward moment never happened, Liam invites Claudette into the backroom at the Woolie and explains that he’s been finding it difficult to hold his urine in,” they added.

“It’s an admirable move considering how private the subject matter is, but Liam knows that Claudette is a friend and colleague that he can count on when it matters most. And as you’d expect, Claudette offers her best words of wisdom in response.”

Elsewhere in the Dales, Mackenzie Boyd finally made his way back to wife Charity Dingle as John Sugden’s world began to collapse, with the villain having to leave his hostage at the hospital after several people discovered his bunker.

With Mack and Aaron ready to blow the whistle on the deadly doctor, does John have another plan up his sleeve as the walls begin to close in? Or will he manage to evade justice for his crimes?
