West Midlands Police has launched a murder investigation after a man was shot dead in Wolverhampton.
Officers were called to Leicester Street in Whitmore Reans just after 3.10am this morning (Friday, September 19) to reports of shots being fired.
Two men were found seriously injured in a vehicle. One, aged in his 20s was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
A second, aged in his 30s, was taken to hospital with injuries which are believed to be life threatening.
A spokesperson for WMP said: “Our investigation is at an early stage, and we’re asking people to avoid the area as a number of scenes are being held and some local roads are still closed.
“Officers will remain in the area throughout the day as enquiries continue.
“If you saw or heard anything, or have any footage which could help our investigation, call us on 101 quoting log 358 of 19 September.”
Wolverhampton Council announced that Leicester Street and part of Gloucester Street would remain shut all day this morning.

West Midlands Ambulance Service sent two ambulances, two paramedic officers, a Hazardous Area Response Team, a trauma doctor with a critical care paramedic, and the Midlands Air Ambulance critical care car from Cosford to the scene.
An ambulance service spokeswoman said: “On arrival crews found a man in a critical condition who was receiving basic life support from the police.
“Crews immediately began administering advanced life support.
“Sadly, despite efforts, nothing could be done to save him, and he was confirmed deceased at the scene.
“A second man was also found in a life-threatening condition and crews immediately began administered advanced trauma care before conveying him to hospital under emergency driving conditions.”
