Kanye West’s new documentary In Whose Name? is out now.

The rapper was dropped by his agency earlier this year following an antisemitic rant.

Footage from the film reveals a previously unreleased phone call between West and his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian.

A new documentary about Kanye West sheds light on his tense relationship with his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian. The rapper, whose antisemitic comments led him to be dropped by his talent agent in February, is the subject of a film called In Whose Name?, out now.

In one scene from the documentary, West and Kardashian have a heated exchange over the phone not long after he met with President Donald Trump in 2018. Throughout the conversation, the Skims founder attempts to explain to West how his actions might have damaging consequences.

“I can’t sleep. I’ve been crying all day. It’s just this bad dream that’s not ending,” Kardashian tells West in the film, which was shot over the course of six years. “You’re losing… everyone around you is like, ‘There’s a way to talk about what you feel. But when you’re this dramatic…'”

West questions who “everyone” is, and Kardashian responds, saying it’s people in the “music business” and “in your work field.”

“I don’t care about the music business. I don’t care about the work field. I’m in a slave business. I’m a slave to Universal. What are you talking about? Of course they’re losing,” he says.

“Just ’cause you have a job and you work hard doesn’t mean you’re a slave,” Kardashian replies. “That’s demeaning because I work hard with brands that are similar to all of that.”

West then refers to E!, the network that produced Keeping Up With the Kardashians, as “a slaveship.”

“That’s not how I look at it, so I think you’re offending a lot of people, including yourself, because they’ve provided a life for me that I never would have been able to provide, and I’m very grateful for that. And I’m not about burning bridges with companies,” Kardashian says.

Kardashian continues, “You’re gonna wake up one day and you’re gonna have, like, nothing.”

“No!” West exclaims. “Never tell me I’m gonna wake up one day and have nothing. Never put that into the universe.”

After nearly a decade together, Kardashian filed for divorce from West in 2021. They have four children together: North, Chicago, Saint, and Psalm.
