Lewis Hamilton revealed at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix that he’s sold his entire car collection, shifting his focus towards art instead.
Among the cars he previously owned was a Mercedes AMG-One, which Hamilton helped develop during the design phase, along with his legendary Ferraris. The Formula One icon has since left Mercedes, teaming up with the Italian team earlier this year.
Hamilton had been amassing vehicles since his early Formula One days, gathering up to 15 premium cars with a total worth of approximately £13million, according to the Express. However, the seven-time champion’s car-collecting phase has now ended.
“I don’t have any cars anymore,” the Ferrari driver said ahead of the Baku race. “I don’t have any cars, so I got rid of all my cars. I’m more into art nowadays.”
He added: “If I was going to get a car, it would be the [Ferrari] F40. But that’s a nice piece of art.”
Hamilton possessed an extensive range of cars, featuring luxury Mercedes and Ferrari models. The British driver made two purchases of the Mercedes AMG-One – one for himself and another for his father – while also maintaining a Mercedes-Maybach S600 and a Mercedes EQC SUV within his fleet.

The British driver also owned three Ferraris, featuring the exclusive 599 SA Aperta, valued at more than £2m. It was restricted to just 80 models worldwide.
In addition, Hamilton has parted ways with his vintage Ford Mustang Shelby, which carried a price tag exceeding £4m. Although Hamilton does not wish to return to his collecting hobby, the 40-year-old has expressed keen interest in car design.
Before his Ferrari debut in Australia earlier this year, he explained: “One of the things I really want to do is to design a Ferrari. I want to do an F44. Baseline of an F40, with the actual stick shift. That’s what I’m gonna work on for the next few years.”

Hamilton’s current attention remains firmly fixed on helping Ferrari in their Constructors’ Championship battle against Mercedes. He is also seeking to end his wait for a maiden podium finish with his new F1 team.
However, Hamilton is pessimistic about his chances of securing a 106th Grand Prix triumph and inaugural victory with Ferrari this year.
“A win is a bit far-fetched, considering I’ve been sixth, seventh and eighth for most of the season,” he admitted ahead of the Azerbaijan GP. “I would love to get a podium for the team at some stage.
“Charles [Leclerc] has had five of them. I feel optimistic coming into the weekend. I feel like I’ve found a couple of things, and now I need to work on extracting them. So, I really hope that this weekend can be the start of that.”
