My Chemical Romance fans are excited as they are convinced the band will be one of the headline acts at Anfield stadium next summer. The home of Liverpool FC has become one of the UK’s premier live music destinations during the football off season.

Huge stars such as Taylor Swift, Bruce Springsteen and Dua Lipa have been among the acts to have played shows in L4 over recent years. There are currently no headline acts scheduled for next year, but fans are convinced My Chemical Romance could be about to be the first.

The alternative rock band, renowned for songs such as ‘I’m Not Okay (I Promise),’ ‘Teenagers’ and ‘The Black Parade’, have recently announced two shows in Wembley next summer. The group, which comprises lead vocalist Gerard Way, lead guitarist Ray Toro, rhythm guitarist Frank Iero, and bassist Mikey Way, confirmed the news after they embarked on a sold out tour of North America.

Fans have speculated Anfield could be a stop on the tour after signs with the band’s logo were on the advertising hoardings during yesterday’s Merseyside Derby match against Everton.

Frank also shared an image of himself on Instagram wearing a Liverpool shirt on his social media channels as he said: “All eyez on the pitch tomorrow, Let’s go Reds!”

Fans took to X and suggested this means they will be performing at the stadium next season. Shane said: “My Chemical Romance show at Anfield to be announced Monday then?”

Lydia commented: “MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE ARE PLAYING ANFIELD IM GONNA DIE.”

Mauwa posted: “What do you mean My Chemical Romance is advertising at the Anfield stadium for the Liverpool game right now.” Stephanie commented: “The streets are saying My Chemical Romance are coming to Anfield.”

My Chemical Romance last performed in the UK as part of their reunion tour in 2022. The band recently released an expanded edition of their three-times platinum certified album, Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge. This comes nearly 20 years after its original release.

The Hollywood Reporter recently gave glowing reviews of the band’s LA performance, saying: “My Chemical Romance makes a triumphant and theatrical return to ‘The Black Parade’ in L.A.

“MCR’s performance of The Black Parade in its totality would’ve been a hot ticket no matter what, but the band’s dedication to a full storytelling experience can’t be overstated.

“Led by Way’s over-the-top band leader, who, spoiler alert, meets a tragic end, The Black Parade portion of the evening was the perfect way to experience an album like this one.”

Similarly, Variety said: “The group’s performance of ‘Black Parade’ was a full-on theatrical production. To the beat of a militaristic drum, with actors depicting despots and soldiers, the band took the stage donned in black marching band uniforms evoking the album’s original concept art.

“An energetic crowd swayed, sang and moshed along to the iconic 14 tracks while cheering along front man Gerard Wasy, who played the part of the album’s protagonist in a redemptive and fatalistic arc.”
