Priscilla Presley claims her relationship with Robert Kardashian once collided with her past in a dramatic way, when Elvis rang her at 2 a.m.
In her upcoming memoir, Softly, As I Leave You: Life After Elvis, the 80-year-old recalled the late King of Rock ‘n’ Roll unexpectedly calling in the middle of the night, completely unaware that her new boyfriend was lying beside her.
‘He’d have gone ballistic, maybe literally, if he’d known Robert was in my bedroom,’ she wrote, in an excerpt obtained by The Sun. ‘Elvis always carried a loaded gun, sometimes more than one.’
Priscilla began dating Kardashian in 1975, shortly after divorcing Elvis in 1973 and ending a subsequent relationship with karate instructor Mike Stone.Â
The attorney, who later married Kris Jenner in 1978 before their 1991 divorce, made a strong impression on her.
‘Robert was a sweet man, and I liked him,’ she said of their romance.

Still, she noted that his ‘demanding’ job as a Hollywood lawyer, which required long hours, often strained their relationship.
‘Priscilla made Robert very happy,’ his friend Joni Migdal said in Jerry Oppenheimer’s 2017 book The Kardashians: An American Drama.
‘He wanted to marry her and have children with her. That was definitely his hope, his plan.’
Others close to him recalled Kardashian complaining that Elvis regularly called during the night, sometimes sounding ‘incoherent.’Â
Priscilla would reportedly place the phone on the pillow between them so Robert could hear her ex-husband’s intimate conversations.
According to Kardashian’s friend Larry Kraines, he once said, ‘This guy Elvis doesn’t stop controlling [Priscilla].’
Kardashian also allegedly confided that Elvis wasn’t comfortable with her dating because of their daughter, Lisa Marie.Â
The singer died in 1977 at 42, while Lisa Marie passed away in 2023 at 54.

Despite the tension, Priscilla insisted she and Kardashian remained close.Â
Before his death from cancer in 2003, his daughter Kim Kardashian phoned her from the hospital so they could speak one last time.
‘Robert and I had one last conversation before he died,’ Priscilla wrote. ‘He was the kindest of men, and I remember him with great affection.’
Softly, As I Leave You: Life After Elvis will be released on September 23.
