Jessie Buckley returns to life as the kick-ass outlaw lover for a punk Frankenstein in the teaser trailer for Maggie Gyllenhaal’s The Bride!, which dropped on Tuesday.

Gyllenhaal’s sophomore feature and her fresh take on Mary Shelley’s classic story is set in 1930s Chicago and centers on a lonesome Frankenstein, played by Christian Bale, who recruits Dr. Euphronios to create a companion for himself.

The two revive a murdered young woman and the titular bride played by Buckley is born. “There is nothing left to do now, but live,” Bale as Frankenstein tells a bleached-blonde bride as their monstrous love story and killing spree, with a hint of Bonnie and Clyde or Wild at Heart, gets underway.

The Bride! is headed to theaters in March 2026 after Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein, the horror meister’s own encounter with Mary Shelley’s classic 1818 novel and starring Oscar Isaac, Jacob Elordi and Mia Goth arrives in theaters for a limited run in October, ahead of a Netflix streaming release.

The Bride! also stars Peter Sarsgaard, Annette Bening, Jake Gyllenhaal and Penelope Cruz. Maggie Gyllenhaal directs from her own screenplay and produces alongside Emma Tillinger Koskoff, Talia Kleinhendler and Osnat Handelsman Keren.

Carla Raij, David Webb and Courtney Kivowitz share executive producer credits. Warner Bros. Pictures will release The Bride! in theaters and on Imax screens in North America on March 6, 2026. That’s preceded by an international theatrical rollout starting March 4, 2026. The film was initially set up to be a Netflix production, but eventually moved to Warner Bros.

Maggie Gyllenhaal made her directorial debut on Netflix’s The Lost Daughter after a long career in front of the camera.
