Iron Maiden, one of Britain’s biggest names in metal, will take to the iconic stage on Saturday July 11 alongside a “hand-picked bill of special guests”.

The Darkness, The Hu, Airborne and The Almighty will join the line-up before the 50-year veterans Maiden take to the stage.

Justin Hawkins, lead singer of The Darkness, said: “Iron Maiden are among our favourite all-time bands and what’s more, they are named after my second favourite medieval torture device.”

The falsetto-loving rocker continued: “Those in attendance can expect us to force our music into them, whereupon the catchiness of our tuneage will expand until they tell us everything. Yay!!!”

Tickets for the event will go on sale on Saturday September 27 at 10am (UK time), on ironmaiden.knebworth.com, myticket.co.uk, ticketmaster.co.uk or, ironmaiden.com.

Camping tickets are separate to event tickets and available to purchase in parallel.

Rod Smallwood, Iron Maiden’s manager since 1979, said: “We knew that we had to bring the Run For Your Lives show back to the UK again next summer.”

He said Knebworth House will provide the perfect venue with the “outdoor space and control to create something very special for our fans”.

According to the band’s website, the event “will not just be a concert but an Iron Maiden curated weekend event”.

Fans with camping tickets will be invited to the historic Knebworth grounds on July 10, where they can enjoy “entertainment, food, drink & meeting up facilities open to enjoy outside the main arena”.

The event also promises the biggest Eddie’s Dive Bar ever, Iron Maiden-themed food, their very own take on the historic Knebworth Fayre and much more.

Over the years, Knebworth has seen the likes of Led Zeppelin, Queen and Oasis take to the gargantuan stage.

Moreover Iron Maiden played the 2014 edition of the now defunct Sonisphere festival in the House’s iconic grounds.
