Beckham, the eldest son of former Manchester United star David Beckham, showed off his golfing talents in the one-day event at Bethpage Black in New York.

Two teams of celebs from the US and Europe faced off in a 10-hole competition in a format similar to the Ryder Cup.

Beckham teamed up with the likes of actress Zeta-Jones and Harry Potter stars Tom Felton and Oliver Phelps.

Team USA includes tennis legend John McEnroe, two-time Super Bowl champion Eli Manning and singer Noah Kahan.

Also spotted on the course over the last 24 hours was ex-Chelsea star Gianfranco Zola, who is part of Europe’s Ryder Cup backroom team.

Zola is vice-captain Francesco Molinari’s designated on-course buggy driver throughout the week.

The Italian, who is a keen golfer and plays off 1.5, is a long-time friend with his countryman and has been invited into Luke Donald’s backroom team.

Justin Rose, a Chelsea fan, admitted he was “star-struck” when he discovered Zola was there.

“Obviously he’s a Chelsea legend, clearly I’m a Chelsea fan,” Rose said.

“I didn’t know he was coming this week. So it was a huge surprise, and literally, he was one of the first people I bumped into.”

Last night, the golfers and their partners stepped out in style at the Ryder Cup welcome dinner, with Rory McIlroy and wife Erica Stoll one of the first couples to arrive.

The traditional opening dinner took place at the stunning 20th century New York Hempstead House estate.

As well as McIlroy, other members of Team Europe stepped out at the glitzy event, including the likes of Ireland’s Shane Lowry, Justin Rose, Tommy Fleetwood, Jon Rahm and Viktor Hovland.

They are all competing under Team Europe captain Luke Donald.

Rory McIlroy shares special moment with daughter Poppy after Irish Open win

Appearing hand-in-hand with Erica – who sported an elegant black dress – Holywood golfer McIlroy was dressed sharply in an eye-catching black suit and tie.

Following closely behind was two-time major winning Spanish golfer Jon Rahm, accompanied by wife Kelley – who wore a bronze gown with crystal detailing. The pair were pictured together smiling for photos.

The partners of the star golfers also gleefully posed for a selfie later in the eventing.

Meanwhile, McIlroy joined the other European players for their own formal photo together as Team Europe.

The welcome dinner is a well-loved and long standing tradition for the event, giving a chance for the players and their partners to enjoy some rest and relaxation before the intensity of the competition.

The Ryder Cup, one of the biggest sporting events in the calendar, tees off on Friday.

But the competition has already seen disruption, with the opening ceremony brought forward 24 hours to Wednesday due to expected bad weather in New York.

The ceremony had been scheduled to take place on Thursday beside the course at Bethpage Black.

Meanwhile, US president Donald Trump is expected to make an appearance on Friday morning. He is due come to Bethpage Black to support US golfer and recent Open victor Scottie Scheffler.

The biennial competition returns to the US for the first time since the Americans’ victory at Whistling Straights in Wisconsin in 2021.

Team Europe won back the cup in 2023 at the Marco Simone Golf Club in Italy.

In 2027, the competition will come to the island of Ireland for only the second time, played on the greens of Co Limerick’s Adare Manor.
