Following a standard audit, Charlton Athletic Women’s Professional Game Academy (PGA) will be paused from operating for an initial seven days.
This ruling applies only to the Women’s PGA (the U21 age group). All girls’ programmes below the PGA age group (U12s-U16s) will continue as normal.
The audit identified some administrative and structural areas that require further investment. While the club are naturally disappointed with this outcome, it views it as a positive opportunity to make improvements that will strengthen the PGA programme for the long-term. The PGA is a vital part of the future of Charlton Athletic Women, and the club is fully committed to addressing the areas raised quickly and effectively. The club are confident that the PGA will be ready to welcome players back very soon.
As a result of the suspension, the women’s U21s will be unable to play Sunday’s scheduled FA Women’s National League Cup tie against Chesham United.
The club’s boys’ academy, which operates under a completely separate structure, is not affected.
