The Europa League kicked off in midweek as the league phase of the competition got underway.

Celtic fans travelled to Belgrade to watch a tricky test for their side against Red Star, but they performed well enough to earn a point.

Kelechi Iheanacho’s tremendous finish into the top corner provided Celtic with a steady start and they currently sit 17th in the table.

The Hoops have Braga next, but the one fans will be looking forward to the most is the game against Roma at Celtic Park in December.

However, according to a report, it’s likely there won’t be any Roma supporters inside Parkhead for that fixture.

Roma faced Nice in France on matchday one of the Europa League and managed to earn three points with a 2-1 triumph.

But the occasion was marred with violence, with the Daily Record reporting that 100 arrests were made by French police as away fans attacked the authorities.

The report states that 13 people are due in court in November as a result having been confiscated of weapons such as ‘knives, rocks, knuckle dusters and hammers’.

It means UEFA are very likely to restrict all Roma fans from entering away grounds for their next three league phase matches, including Celtic on December 11.

Celtic vs Roma could be a rather quiet affair

If Roma fans are indeed banned from accessing Celtic Park in December, then the atmosphere could be significantly affected.

Not only because of the away supporters’ absence, but also because many Celtic fans are planning to boycott the game due to the ongoing opposition of the board.

Celtic released a four-match home Europa League ticket package for fans, but that was met with widespread opposition on social media.

Even when the Hoops made general sale ticket access live for individual games, plenty of fans voiced their rejection.

In the image above, you can see there are still plenty of seats available for the Roma match in December, when normally this game would have been a sell-out pretty quickly.
