The checks will be available from Premier Veins on October 13, as part of the clinic’s support for World Thrombosis Day.

The aim is to help raise awareness of vein conditions such as phlebitis and varicose veins.

Massimo Vezzosi, consultant vascular and endovascular surgeon at Premier Veins, said: “Phlebitis, also known as superficial thrombophlebitis or superficial vein thrombosis, is an inflammation of veins near the surface of the skin, usually in the legs.

“Many people often put up with symptoms of phlebitis, which include changes to the colour and texture of the affected area, localised swelling in the legs and feet, warm, itchy skin and general pain and discomfort.”

Mr Vezzosi explained the potential links between phlebitis and other health conditions, including varicose veins.

He said: “Varicose veins occur when the valves in your veins don’t function properly, causing blood to flow backwards and pool.

“This results in swollen, twisted veins that you can see on the surface of the skin.”

Premier Veins will offer free leg health check-ups to anyone who books an appointment on October 13, World Thrombosis Day.

Mr Vezzosi added: “One of our award-winning vascular consultants will perform a detailed examination, including a medical history and symptoms overview.

“This will allow them to fully determine the underlying cause of any problems people might be suffering with and create a tailored, all-inclusive plan that will effectively treat the condition.”

To book a free check on October 13, visit the Premier Veins website or call 0333 366 2246.

Mr Vezzosi has a broad skill base in keyhole surgery and he is able to offer a variety of minimally invasive treatments, including walk-in-walk-out endovenous treatment of varicose veins, foam sclerotherapy and radiofrequency ablation.
