The Daily Star Chief Tipster believes Aidan O’Brien’s Expanded should get back on track on Wednesday at Naas, while an in-form mare should land the nap at DoncasterNaas racecourse where Expanded runs on Wednesday(Image: PA)
CLASSIC flop EXPANDED (7.45) can get his career back on track at Naas on Wednesday.
The son of Wootton Bassett looked to have the world at his hooves after a highly promising juvenile career during 2024, in which he was runner-up in the Dewhurst.
He was Aidan O’Brien’s main contender in the 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket in April but he could only manage ninth of 11 behind Ruling Court.
He then finished stone last in the Irish equivalent behind Field of Gold.
Expanded runs in calmer waters in the VEI Global Race under Wayne Lordan where he will be suited by easier ground – and he can see off Comanche Brave.
Donnacha O’Brien’s colt was fifth in the Irish 2,000 before posting an excellent third in the Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Karl Burke sends LAM YAI (5.37, nb) to Ireland for the Listed Arqana Irish EBF Marwell Stakes and she can bring home the bacon.
It is a competitive heat but Lam Yai revelled in soft ground to win easily at Carlisle after finding the conditions too quick on her debut when she wsa expected to win. She looks another useful juvenile for her trainer.
MOE’S LEGACY (4.20) bolted up at Bath on fast ground last week and is fancied to follow up under a penalty.
Fillies in form are worth sticking with at this time of year.
Ollie Sangster thinks there is more to come from PIAZZA (3.20) and she is worth a look in the novice race. She has shown promise but needs to relax more in her races.
Tina Jackson’s MISSMIMI (6.20, nap) is another mare in fine form, with a victory at Pontefract following a good second at Ripon.
She is 5lb higher in the weights but her pedigree suggests she will handle the testing ground at Doncaster.
The best bet at Leicester is WORD OF MOUTH (6.30) who is steadily progressive and was mugged at Hamilton close home on her latest start.
She has been found a good chance of getting off the mark.
