Erica Stoll at Bethpage Black on Saturday afternoon
A video which appears to show a Ryder Cup spectator throwing a drink at Rory McIlroy and his wife Erica Stoll has emerged.
The full cup appears to strike Stoll and cover New York native in liquid, as the couple walked towards the 17th green during Saturday’s four ball match at Bethpage Black.
It has been reported that the incident left Stoll, 38, in tears.

Northern Ireland’s McIlroy and his playing partner Shane Lowry were subjected to relentless heckling during Saturday’s afternoon session.
On the fifth hole, McIlroy said: “I’m not going to putt until they shut up” while on the 16th he told a group of spectators to “shut the f*** up” after one spectator shouted “freedom” as he prepared to strike the ball.
The behaviour of fans at the New York course throughout the three-day competition has been widely criticised with European Tour boss Guy Kinnings branding it ‘not acceptable.’
McIlroy and Stoll married in 2017, with their daughter Poppy born in 2020. Although McIlroy filed for divorce in May 2024, the couple reconciled with the Holywood man’s attorney filing a notice of voluntary dismissal the following month.
