Leigh Leopards are the outsiders to lift the Super League title this year.
Leigh Leopards will look to defy the odds as they enter the Super League semi-finals as the biggest outsiders to lift the title.
Adrian Lam’s side secured back-to-back semi-final appearances with an impressive 26-10 play-off eliminator win over Wakefield Trinity, setting up a showdown with borough rivals Wigan Warriors for a spot at Old Trafford.
The two sides will kick off this week’s action on Friday at the Brick Community Stadium, ahead of Saturday’s clash between Challenge Cup and League Leaders’ Shield winners Hull KR and St Helens.
Leigh have already enjoyed a season of highs to date, including their best-ever Super League finish with third spot after the regular campaign. Their knockout match with Daryl Powell’s Wakefield also marked the club’s first home Super League play-off match, dominating the tie at the newly-named Progress of Unity Stadium.
Despite their achievements, Leigh remain rank outsiders to claim the title at the Theatre of Dreams, with odds of 15/2 according to competition partners Betfred.
However, Leigh have already gotten the better of the Warriors twice this season, including the epic 1-0 Super League opener back in February. They also claimed an 18-8 result in July, while Wigan won 36-28 at home in May.
Reigning champions Wigan are the current outright favourites to retain their title on Saturday, October 11, with odds of 1/1. Matt Peet’s side are chasing a third consecutive Super League crown.
Looking to complete a historic treble, Hull KR are second-favourites at 13/8, while St Helens are priced at 7/1 following their dramatic last-gasp win over Leeds Rhinos at AMT Headingley Stadium.
