ROSEHILL INSIDE MAIL

RACE 1: MAIDEN PLATE (1400m)

NORDIC VIKING (6) came from well back for a long head third to Open Secret on debut at Randwick and was just behind the placegetters in the Pierro and Black Opal. Was held up until the 150m when third to Sanctified at Canterbury over 1200m first-up. COLUMBUS (2) was caught in a pocket for most of the straight and only got clear in the last 50m before closing well to finish third behind Decorum on debut at Newcastle. Will take benefit from the experience. Drawn to get an ideal run. SARAPO (9) settled back and was doing his best work near the line when fifth to Snitzel Dancer over 1250m. Will continue to improve as he keeps stepping up in trip.

BET: NORDIC VIKING each-way.

RACE 2: MAIDEN HANDICAP (1200m)

PERFECT APPLE (9) found a solid maiden to make his debut when fifth behind Autumn Boy and Central Coast at Canterbury on June 9 before a spell. Very good winning both Randwick trials this time in. Sat back and sprinted quickly to beat Scrumptious in his first. Tracked the leaders and extended to run down Rosa Incanta with a gap to the others. ROSA INCANTA (12) sat outside the leader was beaten a short half head by Gilette on debut at Canterbury in May. Began fast but had to work hard to cross from the wide gate when a nose second to Pillow Fight second-up. Resumes of two nice seconds in her Randwick barrier trials. RIPLEY (11) was good in placing in both runs of his first campaign. Trialling nicely.

BET: PERFECT APPLE to win.

RACE 3: BENCHMARK 72 HANDICAP (1300m)

MERGEILA (1) was good in her first campaign with a Canterbury win second-up between a debut third Mayfair and a nose second to Pippie Beach both here. Got the job done stylishly first-up with a three-length win from Rapidash at Canterbury three weeks ago. SO YOU PENCE (3) raced wide without cover and also didn’t handle the heavy track when sixth to Liberty State here in May at her only unplaced run. Kicked off this prep with a nice second to the very promising Our Queen at Canterbury two weeks ago. SNITZEL DANCER (9) was ridden along to keep up to the leaders who were running along and she did well to reel them in and hold off Equerry to win on debut at Canterbury.

BET: MERGEILA to win.

RACE 4: BENCHMARK 72 HANDICAP (1800m)

UNITED KINGDOM (7) resumed over 1400m at Canterbury on Aug 20 with a long-neck second to the in-form Iceman who won a Midway at Randwick two starts later. Was OK when fourth to Zip On by over 1500m again on the heavy at Canterbury three weeks later. Up to 1800m and was runner-up to Green Belt over this trip third-up this time last year. LUSKAIRE (4) has found his best form this campaign with back-to-back third placings at Wyong and on the Kensington with a solid win at Goulburn before a big win over 1900m at Canterbury. SIRIUS LEGEND (5) returns to midweek grade after scoring back-to-back wins at Hawkesbury and Kembla in August. Kept up to the mark with an easy trial at Randwick.

BET: UNITED KINGDOM to win.

RACE 5: BENCHMARK 72 HANDICAP (1400m)

SARRISMO (7) debuted with narrow win at Hawkesbury before returning with a third to Tuned last November. Returned from a long lay-off and led all the way to score a near four-length win from Strawberry Impact on Sept 6. Ready for the step up to midweek grade. MAWJOOD (1) was first-up for a new stable and ran a handy third behind Silentsar at Canterbury three weeks ago. She is a dual city winner and was runner-up to Mayfair in her first run here over 1200m in July last year and was second to Flying Thinker over this track and distance in February. OFFICIATE (10) closed well for second to Siriusly Hot over 1250m when resuming on the Kensington before a nose win from Koibito over 1550m at Canterbury.

BET: SARRISMO to win.

RACE 6: BENCHMARK 72 HANDICAP (1200m)

MIDNIGHT DYNAMITE (1) was third to Dance To The Boom in the Gosford Guineas and a close second to Ballroom Bella on the Kensington last campaign. Closed nicely for third behind stablemate Shalaa Gold when resuming at Canterbury two weeks ago. BURMA STAR (9) was fourth to Blitzberg in the Canonbury and fourth to King Of Pop at the end of last campaign. Resumed with a close second at Canterbury before a near four length win in a Warwick Farm maiden on Aug 20. Nice trial behind Beadman at Randwick. BARTOLF (2) didn’t handle the wet track at Randwick two starts back. Given a let up and returned with win at Gosford.

BET: MIDNIGHT DYNAMITE to win.
