Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz were among the players continuing their seasons this week, with both winning titles.
Sinner won the China Open, defeating Learner Tien in the final in Beijing, while Alcaraz beat Taylor Fritz in the Japan Open final.
It represented a first appearance for Sinner since the US Open final last month, which he lost to his ATP rival Alcaraz.
The Spaniard meanwhile took on the Laver Cup in San Francisco after his US Open win, before clinching further success in Tokyo.
Sinner now turns his focus to the Shanghai Masters, but Alcaraz has decided to withdraw from the ATP Masters 1000 event in order to rest and recover following a busy period.

Alcaraz has threatened to miss some events due to the schedule, with Iga Swiatek claiming she may skip tournaments for the same reason.
The Pole is also in action this week at the China Open, which Swiatek is playing on the back of her success at the Korea Open.
Qinwen Zheng strongly disagrees with Swiatek regarding the schedule, with Sinner now asked after his China Open success if he would consider skipping events due to its packed nature.
He replied: “Well, I already skipped many tournaments. Last year, for example, not playing a couple of tournaments.
“Depends obviously what results you’re playing. If you go very far, like Carlos did this season, where basically every time you play you make at least the final.
“Tournaments are also getting longer. The Masters events, they are quite long also. It’s not a one-week event, basically a two-week event.
“Yeah, at some point I feel like you have to jump some tournaments. But everyone thinks in different ways, no?

“For me, I skipped last year a couple of tournaments because I think it was the right choice for my body and mind.
“Yeah, so also this year I didn’t play Toronto, for example, or Montreal. Yeah, you sometimes have to jump some tournaments. You can always choose.
“That’s why I say, yes, they’re mandatory, but at the end of the day you can still choose. I chose always or I will still keep choosing for my best.”
Major tennis problem highlighted by constant injury issues
Sinner referenced many key points in the ongoing debate about the tennis schedule, primarily that each player will have their own thoughts.
And that will make it very tricky for the powers that be to decide upon a fair calendar for everyone across the ATP and WTA tours.
There is also the issue of longevity, with the likes of Alcaraz, Sinner and Swiatek constantly enjoying lengthy runs in the events they play.
But it seems that action must now be taken simply due to health reasons, with several players seemingly suffering as a direct consequence of the schedule.
WTA star Paula Badosa has ended her season already amid constant injury struggles, while there were three retirements in a single day at the China Open.
Other complaints have arisen recently that should force change, with WTA number three Coco Gauff wanting a shorter schedule as well.
