Two local standouts, Ryland Davis and Jaxon Snipes, wrapped up their golf seasons this week with strong showings at the OHSAA Southwest District Tournament.

Ryland Davis of Urbana, who entered the tournament as the fourth individual qualifier from his sectional, delivered one of the day’s most noteworthy performances.

The junior shot a 76, narrowly missing a qualifying spot for next week’s OHSAA Division II State Championship.

Despite falling just short of advancing, Davis exceeded expectations and turned in one of his best rounds of the year, showing poise and determination throughout the day.

“Ryland really shocked the tournament. He played one of his best rounds under pressure, and while the result didn’t go our way, this is absolutely one to hang your hat on.”

Jaxon Snipes of Indian Lake competed well and posted an 89.

Though the score wasn’t enough to move on to the state tournament, it marked a solid finish to what has been a strong and consistent season for the senior.

“Jaxon’s season was defined by steady improvement and leadership. He’s been a key part of the team, and we’re proud of the way he finished.”
