A new Spider-Man 4 cast rumor has shed some confusing light on the potential appearance of a major MCU character in the upcoming fourth film.

What Spider-Man 4 cameo has gotten a new update?

According to a new post on social media from noted insider My Time to Shine, Daredevil won’t be appearing in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day. This comes amidst a new report that Charlie Cox, who plays Daredevil, has joined the upcoming film This Is How It Goes, which is set to begin production this month in the UK and Ghana.

With Cox likely away filming, it could mean that he won’t end up appearing alongside Tom Holland in the upcoming Brand New Day. This report also clashes with a rumor that popped up last week courtesy of Nuke The Fridge (via ComicBookMovie), which noted that a reliable source said Cox would be in the movie. As of now, it looks like we’ll have to wait for more concrete info.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is being directed by Destin Daniel Cretton from a screenplay written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. The movie will once again be led by Tom Holland as he reprises his role as Peter Parker/Spider-Man. Emmy winner Zendaya and Jacob Batalo are also expected to return for the sequel.

They will be joined by cast members Sadie Sink (Stranger Things), Liza Colón-Zayas (The Bear), Jon Bernthal, and Trammell Tillman, among others. The movie is produced by Kevin Feige, Amy Pascal, Rachel O’Connor, and Avi Arad.

Spider-Man 4 will be released in United States theaters on July 31, 2026, ahead of Avengers: Doomsday (December 18, 2026) and Avengers: Secret Wars (December 17, 2027).
