Singer and actor Rajvir Jawanda has died 11 days after a motorbike accident on September the 27. The 35-year-old spent 11 days on life support before doctors declared him dead. The singer and actor, who was married with two young children, crashed while trying to avoid stray cattle that wandered onto the road. The accident left him with head and spinal injuries and was described by doctors as “extremely critical with minimal brain activity and no significant improvement”. He died at Fortis hospital where he had been treated since the incident.
Tributes flooded in for the star as the news broke. “Rajvir Jawanda is no more ! May Waheguru bless his soul and give family and friends courage to bear the loss !!What a loss…” one fan wrote. “Heartfelt condolences on the passing of singer Rajvir Jawanda. The Punjabi music industry has lost a remarkable artist. Rest in Peace,” another penned.
“So sad we were waiting his good health recovery report but we don’t know this happened we have to hope slowly slowly everything will be better it’s v hard to believe and we lost diamond son and beautiful brother,” a third shared.
A fourth chimed in: “Deeply saddened by the untimely passing of Rajvir Jawanda. Gone too soon, but his soulful voice will live on in every heartbeat of Punjab.”
“My heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and millions of fans. May Waheguru bless his soul with eternal peace,” a fifth wrote.
Meanwhile a sixth lamented: “Saddened to hear tragic death of Rajvir Jawanda a vibrant singer…its an irreparable loss.”
Rajvir, who hailed from Pona village, completed training with the Punjab Police before pursuing an entertainment career.
He was known for his songs Tu Dis Penda, Khush Reha Kar, Sardari, Surname, Afreen, Landlord, Down to Earth and Kangani.
He also appeared in the films Gippy Grewal-starrer Punjabi film Subedar Joginder Singh (2018) as well as other titles such as Jind Jaan (2019) and Mindo Taseeldarni (2019).
He became one of the most recognised artists in the Punjabi entertainment world, with over 420 million views on his YouTube channel.
