A person has died after being hit by a train near Chester. British Transport Police were called to Bache railway station at around 3.30pm on Sunday, October 5, following reports of a person on the tracks.

Police and paramedics arrived at the scene but the casualty was confirmed to be dead. A spokesperson for the force said the death was not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.

Bache railway station is the first station for Merseyrail services leaving Chester on the Wirral Line.
