A woman who was stabbed to death in her own home suffered 27 separate knife wounds, a court has heard.
Rebekah Campbell, 32, was caught on CCTV fleeing her flat block with bloodstains on her clothes five minutes after telling her ‘possessive and jealous’ partner Michael Ormandy that she no longer wanted to be in a relationship with him.
She later collapsed in the car park of the Knowsley Heights flat block in Huyton, Liverpool Crown Court was told.

Police bodycam footage, taken at the scene on April 15 this year, heard the victim say: “He just walked in and stabbed me. He came through the door and stabbed me. He’s got a bullet proof vest on.”
She was taken to hospital, where she died of her injuries. Ormandy, of Linacre Road in Litherland, denies murder and claims to have acted in self defence, the ECHO reports.
At an ongoing trial at Liverpool Crown Court on Wednesday (October 8) Home Office pathologist Dr Aaron Borbora said Ms Campbell had suffered 27 separate knife injuries, comprising 18 stab wounds and nine slashes.
These included five injuries to her head, three to her chest, three to her left side, five to her back, 10 to her left arm, and one to her left leg.
She was taken to Aintree Hospital, where she was found to have suffered a punctured lung resulting in heavy bleeding in her chest cavity, and cardiac tamponade (compression of the heart) due to bleeding in the sac surrounding her heart.
She underwent emergency surgery, however her condition rapidly deteriorated and she died at around 12.45am on April 16.
The doctor said: “There was stab damage to the left lung and two stab wounds to the heart. These are the fatal injuries.”
Images of Ms Campbell’s various stab and slash wounds were shown to the court. Ormandy, who told police he had acted in self defence after Ms Campbell ‘came at him with the knife’, sat with his back turned towards the screens.
Michael Ormandy, 34, is accused of the murder of Rebekah Campbell
Dr Borbora said: “The wounds were concentrated over the left side of the body, particularly the left upper arm and left sit of the chest. Five wounds were found on the back of the body, three on the left side and two on the right.
“It’s my opinion this woman died as a result of stab wounds to the chest.
“There were at least three penetrating stab wounds on the left side of the chest towards the middle of the body, however it was difficult to take these wounds in detail because of the emergency medical intervention.
“One of these wounds passed through the left lung. The heart was damaged in two places by stabs which went through the full thickness of the heart wall.
“The wounds to the back, arms, head and leg didn’t penetrate any vital structures although they would undoubtedly have been painful and bled.”
He said two stab wounds to Ms Campbell’s left side and one to her back had resulted in ‘scoring’ to her bones, which suggested ‘the use of severe force’.
He added: “There were numerous injuries to the left arm. The could represent so-called self defence injuries. These are wounds caused in an assault where the victim tries to ward off blows made by the weapon. These injuries are typically found on the hands and forearms. It could be the victim tried to shield the left side of her chest using her left arm.”
The trial continues.
