Millennium Court in Portadown was a hive of activity on Wednesday 8 October as the latest Job and Careers Fair brought together local employers, training providers and jobseekers eager to explore new opportunities.

Hosted by the Labour Market Partnership (LMP) in collaboration with the local Jobs and Benefits Office, the event offered a valuable platform for residents to connect directly with employers and discover pathways into work, training or further education.

LMP is funded by the Department for Communities. Labour Market Partnerships create targeted employment action plans for council areas, allowing for collaboration at local and regional level to support people towards and into work.

Key local organisations and employers took part, representing a wide range of sectors including retail, healthcare, manufacturing, logistics, hospitality and skilled trades. Visitors were able to find out about live vacancies, apprenticeship opportunities and career development support, while employability advisers were on hand to provide guidance on CV writing, interview preparation and skills training.

Deputy Lord Mayor Councillor Jessica Johnston said: “This Jobs and Careers Fair is about opening doors and making it easier for people in Portadown and beyond to access opportunities right on their doorstep. When we bring employers and talent together in one place, real connections are made.”

Free and open to everyone, the Portadown Job and Careers Fair formed part of a wider series of job fairs taking place across the borough this autumn, each aimed at helping residents connect with employment and training opportunities close to home.

The next job fair event will take place in Banbridge Leisure Centre on Thursday 23rd October from 10.30am to 1pm.
