Cornwall Ontario – Many young adults today face real challenges when it comes to finding meaningful employment. Whether it’s lack of experience, uncertainty about where to start, or the stress of balancing life’s demands, entering the workforce can feel overwhelming. To help bridge this gap, the Breaking Barriers event has been created specifically for young adults ready to take the next step.

Breaking Barriers: A Journey to Employment is a free, high-impact event happening Tuesday November 18th from 10AM to 2:30PM at DEV Hotel & Conference Centre in Cornwall. Designed for young adults aged 17 to 30, this experience will equip participants with the inspiration, insight, resilience, and practical tools they need to step up, stand out, and get hired.

“Whether you’re a recent graduate, looking for alternatives to post-secondary, or wanting to start your career, this event is for you,” says Kimberly Hamilton, Operations Manager with the Eastern Ontario Training Board. “Don’t miss this chance to break barriers and take the next step in your career!”

Event Highlights

Keynote Speaker – Sam Demmam, an internationally recognized youth speaker, author, and changemaker. Sam will share his powerful strategies to help young adults build confidence, take action, and create their own opportunities.
Employer Guest Panel – Hear directly from local employers about what they’re looking for, how hiring decisions are made, and how you can stand out.
Youth Speakers – Will be sharing their perspectives on gaining meaningful employment and personal growth.
Mental Health Practitioner – To equip you with strategies and tools on managing stress, balancing responsibilities, and maintaining well-being while seeking and starting work.
Free Bus Transportation – Provided from Akwesasne, Morrisburg, Ingleside, Long Sault, Alexandria, and Lancaster.
