This was due to a problem under investigation at Kelvedon, the line towards Colchester was blocked.
They were disrupted after an alarm was activated in the driver’s cab on the 5pm London Liverpool Street to Norwich service.
For everyone’s safety, the onboard train crew, with remote assistance from the fleet team, was making investigations into the problem.
Train services running through this station were delayed.

All lines have now reopened.
A spokesman for Greater Anglia said: “Greater Anglia and Network Rail are sorry if your journey has been affected by this disruption.
“Advance purchase ticket holders will be allowed to travel on earlier or later trains if their booked service is cancelled.”
