A bear wandering into the courtyard of a secondary school in the village of Nestorio, in northern Greece’s Kastoria region, sparked alarm among residents, local media reported on Wednesday.
Video footage showed the animal moving slowly through the school grounds, likely in search of food. The bear fled after noticing people nearby. The school was closed at the time due to the summer holiday.
The incident is one of several recent bear sightings in residential areas of Western Macedonia, fueling concern in local communities over increasing human-wildlife encounters.
