TV land was dominated by the arrival of The Celebrity Traitors this week, as BBC1 set aside prime time on Wednesday and Thursday nights for 19 famous faces playing wink murder in a Scottish castle. And as much as Alan Carr shone as the least likely traitor in the history of the programme, there’s more to TV than reality shows.
But what else should you watch? Here’s your curated weekend watchlist…

Victoria Beckham
Netflix
Almost exactly two years ago, Netflix released the Emmy-winning documentary Beckham, following the life and career of former England captain David. Now, it’s Victoria’s turn in the spotlight in this new three-part series that charts her rise to becoming Posh Spice and her subsequent segue to the world of fashion design. The show is made by the same team as the Beckham series, so expect a familiar mix of archive footage, behind-the-scenes access to Victoria’s personal and professional life, along with interviews with big names from the industry including Tom Ford, Roland Mouret and Anna Wintour, friends like Eva Longoria and, of course, her husband, David.
Frauds
Jodie Whittaker and Suranne Jones in Frauds
ITV
ITVX
With a consistent history of fine small screen performances, the combination of Suranne Jones and Jodie Whittaker is enough to attract many viewers to this Spanish-set heist drama. The show leans into the excellent chemistry of the actresses to tell the story of Bert (Jones), who is released from a Spanish prison after serving a ten-year sentence and reunites with her former partner in crime, Sam (Whittaker). Despite us learning early on that Bert is dying of cancer, that doesn’t stop her desire to get Sam on board for one last job. So begins a crime caper in the Spanish sunshine with undertones of Thelma & Louise.
John Candy: I Like Me
Prime Video
Planes, Trains and Automobiles (Disney+, Sky/Now) is one of the finest comedy films, in no small part due to the brilliant performance of the late, great John Candy opposite Steve Martin. With a filmography that also includes Uncle Buck, Splash and The Great Outdoors, there’s no shortage of famous faces queueing up to sing the praises of the actor in this new documentary from Colin Hanks and Ryan Reynolds. Among the cast of this film, which includes never-before-seen archive footage and fascinating insights into Candy’s life, are interviews with Mel Brooks, Dan Aykroyd, Tom Hanks, Steve Martin, Eugene Levy, Bill Murray, Chris Columbus and Catherine O’Hara.
Film Club
Nabhaan Rizwan and Aimee Lou Wood in Film Club
BBC/GAUMONT/BEN BLACKALL
BBC iPlayer
Despite making her name with younger audiences as Aimee Gibbs in Netflix’s smash hit Sex Education, Aimee Lou Wood’s star has risen dramatically in 2025 thanks to a fabulous turn as the eternally optimistic Chelsea in season three of The White Lotus (Sky/Now). In this warm-hearted and quirky comedy — Wood’s screenwriting debut alongside House of the Dragon’s Ralph Davis — she plays Evie, a woman who hasn’t left the house for six months after a mental health issue and who hosts a weekly film club alongside her friend Noah (Nabhaan Rizwan). Featuring a star turn from Suranne Jones (who seems to be in everything right now) as Evie’s mother, this is a show that juxtaposes trauma with comedy.

After the sad news that bestselling author Dame Jilly Cooper, described by Queen Camilla as a “legend”, died this week aged 88, you might like to watch (or rewatch) the recent adaptation of her 1988 novel. It’s a romp of a story with a cast including David Tennant, Aidan Turner, Katherine Parkinson and Danny Dyer all on sparkling form. After the huge success of the first season, there’s a second run coming in 2026, and probably more beyond that, ensuring the wonderful world of Jilly Cooper will be discovered by audiences onscreen for many years to come.
And how about a free-to-air film or two as a bonus…
