Rashford has joined the La Liga giants on a season-long loan for the 2025/26 campaign with the option to buy next summer.
“FC Barcelona and Manchester United have reached an agreement for the loan of player Marcus Rashford until June 30, 2026,” said a Barcelona statement.
“The agreement also establishes an option to purchase the English striker.
“The player signed his contract as a Barca player this Wednesday afternoon in a private ceremony attended by the president of FC Barcelona, Joan Laporta, the sporting director and other members of the board of directors.”
Speaking after his arrival, Rashford said: “I’m very excited. It’s a club where dreams come true.
“They win big prizes and what the club stands for really means a lot to me. It feels like I’m at home and it’s a big factor in my choice to come here.
“It’s a family club and people are comfortable here. It’s a good place for good players to showcase their skills.”
Rashford fell out of favour under manager Ruben Amorim when the Portuguese replaced Erik ten Hag. He was dropped from the first team, with his last appearance coming before the winter transfer window opened.
He then joined Aston Villa on loan, who did not exercise their option to buy him.
After making a good initial impression at Villa Park, the 27-year-old’s season was curtailed by a hamstring injury that saw him absent from the last four games of the season and miss out on a place in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad.
Barcelona, who were rebuffed by Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams earlier this summer, have been keen to sign a left-winger this window, having been short on options in that position towards the end of last season.
Rashford endured a difficult few seasons in the Premier League. He scored 30 goals for United in all competitions during the 2022/23 season, then scored just eight in the following year and was dropped by Ten Hag for disciplinary reasons in January 2024.
He scored 11 goals in total last season, and will be aiming to win a regular spot at Barcelona in order to earn a place in the England squad ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
