The pair’s journey began earlier this year when they competed in a local round of the International Golf Pairs Wales tournament at Pontypool Golf Club, which they won. That victory took them to the National Welsh Final at the Vale Resort, where they again came out on top, securing their place in the world final.
Competing on two renowned South African courses, Toby and Taylor climbed the leader board across two rounds, finishing above teams from Singapore, South Africa, Japan and Brazil to take the top spot.
The Welsh duo were the youngest finalists at the Vale and were praised for their composure and teamwork throughout the tournament.
Their success marks a major moment for the first year of the event’s organisation in Wales by Jack Morris and Liam McCann of International Golf Pairs Wales, who accompanied the players to South Africa.
Proud mum Samantha Green said the win is a huge achievement for the pair and for Welsh golf. “They’ve represented their club, Pontypool Golf Club, and Wales brilliantly,” she said.
