The Free Books for Kids campaign is being run by East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) across its 53 shops in East Anglia.

The scheme allows children to visit an EACH shop and choose a book to keep during the summer holidays.

Genine Woodcock, retail central support manager at EACH, said: “We’re thrilled to be running this fabulous initiative again.

“It’s a regular school holiday event for us, and, as ever, we hope it encourages and entertains young readers throughout the summer.

“It’s always popular and well-received, particularly during the school holidays when families may be struggling for low-cost ideas to keep children entertained.”

EACH supports families and cares for children with life-threatening conditions across East Anglia through its three hospices: The Nook in Framingham Earl, The Treehouse in Ipswich, and Milton near Cambridge.

The charity relies heavily on public support, needing to raise £8million this year from donations and fundraising, and a further £9.8m from retail income.

Only 15% of its funding comes from government sources, including county councils and the NHS.
