England star Lucy Bronze has opened up on the personal connection Prince William has developed with the Lionesses in his role as Patron of the Football Association.

The Prince of Wales is often seen supporting the Lionesses and England’s men’s team at football matches in the UK and abroad.

Bronze, who has 140 caps for the Lionesses, hailed the royal’s dedication to supporting the team.

She told Hello: “He’s been to almost every pre-camp, and he always comes and says good luck to us in person.”

The Chelsea footballer added that she has a “personal connection” with William and “it’s always nice to have a little chat” at the games.

Bronze also revealed that the Lionesses gifted Prince William a football kit for Princess Charlotte when she was born.

She said: “I remember when Charlotte was born, we had a little England Lionesses kit made for her, and we gave it to Prince William when he came to St George’s Park to meet us.

“It’s been nice to watch her grow up as well, and knowing that we’ve tried to impact like little girls like Charlotte in England and empower them to do whatever they want when they’re older.”

Their elder brother, Prince George, watched the match live in Germany with his father, Prince William.

Bronze, who is a two-time European Championship winner, is aiming to represent England at another tournament before retiring.

She outlined her ambition to make the Lionesses squad for the Women’s World Cup in 2027.

Bronze said: “Everybody who knows me knows that I would do anything to play for the Lionesses, especially when it’s a tournament and there’s a chance of the team winning.

“If I need to be there and make a difference, I’m always going to be ready and just put my body on the line.”
