With the ROG Xbox Ally now out in the wild, there’s been hope that Microsoft might accelerate its Xbox Play Anywhere program even further and add some big games to the list, and one fan thinks they’ve discovered a few on the way.
This person took to Reddit on Wednesday to explain that when they ticked the “Xbox Series X|S” and “Handheld” boxes for playable games on the Xbox website, they found five titles that don’t have Xbox PC versions at the time of writing.
Therefore, they believed (at least at the time) that these five games are coming to Xbox Play Anywhere:

As you can see, the five games mentioned here are Oddsparks, Mortal Kombat 1, Baldur’s Gate 3, Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 and Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon. It’s worth noting that they were then removed from the list after the Reddit post started gaining traction.
To be honest, we were immediately a little sceptical of this discovery because of how unreliable the Xbox Store lists can be at times, but there’s reason to believe these games could great the treatment.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is a notable one because it’s been showing up in the ROG Xbox Ally marketing material as a playable game through the Xbox app, and that’s obviously not the case as things stand.
You can see an example of this below – it doesn’t have the Steam logo next to it as you’d expect.
Mortal Kombat 1 would make sense for two reasons – Warner Bros. just made one of their other games compatible with Xbox Play Anywhere (Hogwarts Legacy) and MK1 is rumoured to be coming to Game Pass very soon too.
Ultimately, we don’t know whether these games’ appearances were just a glitch on the Xbox Store which can be quite common, or an indication of what’s to come in the near future. In any case, we’ll be keeping a close eye on the situation.
