Tremendous controversy has arisen to end the cycling season on the road. In the middle of the Tour of Holland 2025, there has been an unfortunate episode that has forced the cancellation of stage 3 of the race. The peloton has stood up and has managed to stop the day’s racing because of the great danger that has existed throughout the day.
Stage 3 of the Tour of Holland will not have a winner. The riders have returned to the start line, and will wait until the next day for the fourth stage of the race tomorrow. The reason? First of all, a vehicle rammed the riders themselves during the neutralised start.
Despite this, the stage was started, but the final straw came when cars appeared riding on the road itself, in the opposite direction to the cyclists. According to Wielerflits, the peloton encountered a car during a descent, at which point everyone decided to stop to cancel the race.
The situation at the Tour of HollandStage 3 of the Tour of Holland 2025 started with Ethan Hayter leading the general classification. The Soudal – Quick-Step rider won stage 2 of the race, which allowed him to move up two positions and take 1st ahead of Jakob Soderqvist, the Swedish talent from Lidl-Trek, and Christophe Laporte, Team Visma | Lease a Bike’s leader in the Dutch race.
Friday’s stage was expected to be a big fight thanks to the leg-breaking route that the riders were going to face, with two climbs, for example, to the mythical Cauberg. But, the lack of safety was clear throughout the day, and the riders did not want to risk their lives any longer.
In a totally anticlimactic way, the penultimate stage will arrive on Saturday, still with Ethan Hayter as leader. It will be a circuit with constant passes through the VAM-berg, but allowing the Briton to retain the leader’s jersey until the final stage of the Tour of Holland.
