Netflix has unveiled a new look at the second season of Squid Game: The Challenge, with a release date not too far away. With plenty of “savage” twists to come, here’s what you can expect from the upcoming season.

The reality series, a spin-off to the hit South Korean show, sees 456 contestants partake in a vast array of challenges as they each seek to claim the whopping $4.56 million cash prize, though only the last person standing will do so.

Following a successful first season in 2023, Netflix promptly greenlit a follow-up, and we already know that the second season will premiere on the streamer on 4 November, with new episodes airing weekly until 18 November.

“Inspired by the iconic original series – with shocking new twists and never-before-seen games – season two raises the stakes higher than ever. As players face elimination at every turn, only one can emerge victorious. New players. New games. New rules.”

While the second season is due to air next month, the future of the series is already secure for a little while after Netflix confirmed in July that a third season had been ordered (via Tudum).

Elsewhere in the franchise, the main series concluded with its third season in June, though creator Hwang Dong-hyuk has already teased that he has some storylines in mind for any potential spin-offs.

“I actually had this faint ideation about possibly a spin-off,” he said. “Not a sequel, but maybe a spin-off about the three-year gap between season one and season two when Gi-hun looks around for the recruiters.

“There is that three-year period, and maybe I could have a portrayal of what the recruiters or Captain Park or officers or masked men were doing in that period, not inside the gaming arena, but their life outside of that.”

Squid Game: The Challenge season 2 premieres on Netflix on 4 November.
