Hollyoaks is set to revisit a groundbreaking couple from the soap’s past as John Paul McQueen and Jez Blake’s wedding takes a deadly turn.
John Paul was left with cold feet after Jez’s outburst on Monday, which made John Paul realise he didn’t really know his fiancée at all, and maybe didn’t love him.
At the same time, Jez questioned Bobby Costello over his presence at the allotment, who admitted he was searching for evidence that would clear him of the murder of social worker Ian Stone.
Jez, who killed Ian himself, joins forces with Bobby to pin the murder on the late Dilly Harcourt, and says if Bobby does the dirty work, Jez will leave the village for good.
When it comes to the couple’s big day, despite both Jez and Martha Blake urging John Paul to go through with the wedding, he calls it off after realising Jez had lifted his vows from a Mark Twain poem.

Mercedes McQueen berated Jez in front of their guests, with him secretly promising to make her pay for her actions.
And that he does, when he makes her son Bobby his latest victim despite the pair working together to clear him of Ian’s murder.
John Paul is also in a spiral following their breakup, relapsing in his sobriety, much to the despair of Mercedes and Tony Hutchinson.
Upcoming episodes will also see him fall into the arms of a former lover, Ste Hay, while he navigates a broken heart.

John Paul and Ste tied the knot in Hollyoaks in 2014, making their nuptials the first same-sex marriage shown in the Channel 4 soap.
The couple called time on their relationship just a year later, after problems between them built up, becoming too much to bear when Sinead O’Connor gave birth to Ste’s baby.
In upcoming scenes, Ste takes Dillon Ray to a recovery meeting and finds John Paul spiralling, who confesses his guilt over his relationship breaking down.
Ste offers John Paul comfort, but the latter misreads the moment and tries to kiss him. How will Ste react to the move from his ex-husband?
Hollyoaks airs on Mondays-Wednesdays with its Channel 4 streaming premiere at 7am, then an E4 broadcast the same night at 7pm. Full episodes are also released on YouTube a week after their Channel 4 release.
