Oisin Murphy: champion Flat jockey gets a guard of honourCredit: Edward Whitaker
Here’s your roll of honour for the 2025 Flat season in Britain. . .
Champion jockey
Oisin Murphy was crowned champion jockey for the fifth time, adding to victories in in 2019, 2020, 2021 and last year. He finished well clear of his nearest rival Billy Loughnane.
Champion owner
Once again, this accolade belongs to Godolphin for the 17th time despite Ombudsman’s defeat in the Champion Stakes. They have earned over £7 million in prize-money.
Champion trainer
This actually runs until the end of the year and Aidan O’Brien looks in pole position to win it for an eighth time. Andrew Balding and John Gosden aren’t officially out of the race just yet after strong days at Ascot, but their tasks look tough.
Champion apprentice
Last year’s runner-up Joe Leavy got his hands on the trophy this time, having partnered 40 winners. He follows in the footsteps of the likes of William Buick, Ryan Moore, Oisin Murphy, Tom Marquand and Billy Loughnane.
Well done to all winners on a brilliant season!
