Strictly Come Dancing viewers were left less than impressed by the judges’ attempt at karaoke, with some even changing the channel
Strictly Come Dancing fans were left gobsmacked as the programme’s judges attempted karaoke.
Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke traded their scoring paddles for microphones during Saturday evening’s episode of the BBC ballroom show (October 18), to belt out several lines of It Must Have Been Love by Roxette.
Harry Aikines-Aryeetey and his professional partner Karen Hauer had selected the 90s classic for their Rumba routine, and after presenter Tess Daly disclosed that it was a popular karaoke number, the judging panel decided to showcase their vocal talents, reports Wales Online.
Nevertheless, their version of the beloved track failed to strike the right chord with all BBC programme enthusiasts, with one spectator sharing on X: “This ain’t Strictly Come Karaoke.”

Tess set up the performance by informing viewers: “Yes, performing next is Harry and Karen, and tonight they are dancing to an iconic power ballad, which is not only perfect for a Rumba, but apparently also some people go to karaoke track!”
The broadcast then switched to the judging table, where all four panellists had risen for their brief musical moment.
Fans weren’t sure about the singalong
Many fans were unimpressed, with one writing on X (previously Twitter): “Please never let the judges sing again thank you x.”
“Judges’ karaoke was… interesting…” confessed another viewer, whilst someone else quipped: “When the wine hits and there’s karaoke on at the bar.”
“That was the worst celebrity karaoke since they decided to a celebrity version of The X Factor,” remarked another person. One viewer vented: “Was watching Strictly Come Dancing but the judges did that daft karaoke skit so I have put on a horror film to make me happy again.”
But not all shared this sentiment, with some viewers thoroughly enjoying the performance.
“Judges doing karaoke every week please,” one fan eagerly requested.
Harry and Karen performed the Rumba
The competition has already seen two celebrities exit the dancefloor. The first to leave was former Apprentice contestant Thomas Skinner, who was partnered with professional dancer Amy Dowden, and was sent packing after the first week of competition.
Presenter Ross King was the second celebrity to bid farewell. He and his dance partner Jowita Pryzstal found themselves in the dance-off following their Paso Doble routine to the Thunderbirds Are Go theme tune, resulting in the judges sending them home.
Strictly Come Dancing airs on BBC One.
