Sunday Brunch: Host apologises after Jenny Eclair swears on air
Sunday Brunch hosts were forced to apologise after a guest brazenly swore while on live TV.
The hit Channel 4 show returned to TV screens on Sunday (October 19) for another morning of food, laughter and music. Joining hosts Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer were another batch of famous faces.
On the long-running programme, the pair chatted to the likes of actor Nigel Planer, comedian Jenny Eclair, singer Miles Kane and West End legend Samantha Barks, and rock band Feeder also performed.
However, things took an awkward turn when Tim and Simon sat down to talk to showbiz legend Jenny about her current tour, Jokes, Jokes, Jokes, Live!
Jenny swore on the show
Jenny – who shot to fame in the 1980s – has been performing up and down the country in recent months with the tour finishing later this year. On Sunday Brunch, discussing her show, Jenny said: “I do punk poetry from the early days in this show.
“But obviously I can’t do it now because it’s filthy,” she added. Nonetheless, Jenny went ahead and proclaimed: “One’s called t**s, the other called fanny!”
Tim and Simon were left shocked by Jenny’s remark and put their head in their hands. Jenny then said: “ Oh I didn’t know that was wrong sorry!

Referring to the Sunday Brunch team, Jenny added: “I did ask some other questions about what things I was allowed to say [on the show] and they just said no.”
Tim then said: “If you ever ask to ask what you’re allowed to say and the answer is no…” He then quickly issued an apology. He said: “Can I apologise for the two words she said.”
Jenny responded: “Oh right, ok.” She then turned to the camera and told viewers: “I do hope you’re not offended and if you are, do not come and see my show.”
Tim apologised to viewers
In other Jenny news, the TV legend recently made a candid confession about marrying her partner of three decades, Geof Powell. The couple tied the knot in an intimate ceremony with just close family and friends in attendance.
And Jenny’s hilariously nonchalant about her big day. Asked by Mirror whether she’s glad to have taken the leap, she immediately fires back, “Oh no. No, no, no,” accompanied with an assured shake of the head.
“Marriage is a stupid thing. It has to be done, though, because otherwise you die and all your money goes to the government,” she explains. “Had I known that civil partnerships for heterosexual couples would be legal within a year after I got married, we’d have done that.”
Sunday Brunch airs every Sunday at 10am on Channel 4.
