Sunday Brunch presenters were compelled to issue an apology following a guest’s unexpected use of profanity during the live broadcast.

The popular Channel 4 programme returned to screens on Sunday (October 19) for another morning filled with culinary delights, entertainment and musical performances. Hosts Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer welcomed yet another collection of celebrity guests.

During the long-established show, the duo spoke with personalities including actor Nigel Planer, comedian Jenny Eclair, vocalist Miles Kane and West End star Samantha Barks, whilst rock group Feeder also took to the stage.

Nevertheless, the atmosphere became uncomfortable when Tim and Simon settled down to discuss entertainment veteran Jenny’s ongoing tour, Jokes, Jokes, Jokes, Live!

Jenny – who rose to prominence during the 1980s – has been touring venues across the nation in recent months, with the tour concluding later this year. Whilst appearing on Sunday Brunch and discussing her performance, Jenny remarked: “I do punk poetry from the early days in this show.”, reports the Mirror.

“But obviously I can’t do it now because it’s filthy,” she continued. Despite this, Jenny proceeded to declare: “One’s called t**s, the other called fanny!”

Tim and Simon appeared stunned by Jenny’s comment and buried their faces in their hands. Jenny then exclaimed: ” Oh I didn’t know that was wrong sorry!”.

Speaking about the Sunday Brunch production team, Jenny continued: “I did ask some other questions about what things I was allowed to say [on the show] and they just said no.”

Tim then stated: “If you ever ask to ask what you’re allowed to say and the answer is no…” He quickly followed this with an apology, saying: “Can I apologise for the two words she said.” Jenny replied: “Oh right, ok.”

She then addressed the viewers directly, stating: “I do hope you’re not offended and if you are, do not come and see my show.”

In other news related to Jenny, the television icon recently opened up about her marriage to her partner of thirty years, Geof Powell. The pair exchanged vows in a private ceremony attended only by close family and friends.

Jenny’s attitude towards her wedding day was refreshingly laid-back. When asked by Mirror if she was pleased to have made the commitment, she responded without hesitation, “Oh no. No, no, no,” accompanied by a firm shake of the head.

“Marriage is a stupid thing. It has to be done, though, because otherwise you die and all your money goes to the government,” she elaborated. “Had I known that civil partnerships for heterosexual couples would be legal within a year after I got married, we’d have done that.

Sunday Brunch airs every Sunday at 10am on Channel 4.
