Maverick’s identity is being kept a big secret – but fans have it worked out
ITV fans have been left puzzled by the new The Chase star Maverick – but others are convinced they’ve worked out his identity. The ITV show is back for a brand new set of Beat the Chaser episodes.
However, fans have been distracted by the unlikely appearance of a masked person on the panel. Viewers have been left confused by the person’s appearance on the show.
“What’s with this Maverick? All a bit odd… #BeatTheChasers,” one wrote. Another added: “What’s wrong with this different chaser? Why is he dressed and talking like that? #BeatTheChasers.”
Who is Maverick?
The mystery surrounding Maverick is only being fuelled by fan theories online. The quiz experts feature Anne Hegerty, (The Governess), Mark Labbett (The Beast), Paul Sinha, (The Sinnerman), Jenny Ryan, (The Vixen), Shaun Wallace (The Dark Destroyer) and Darragh Ennis (The Menace) – but now there’s a new kid on the block!
A caption on a post about the new arrival reads: “There’s A New Face In Town… The Maverick Has Joined The Chasers! But Who Could It Be? Find Out Sunday At 8pm On ITV!”
But who is it? Fans of the ITV show have been desperately guessing who it might be – and some are convinced it’ll be a top comedian. One shared: “Everyone going on about who will be the mysterious “Maverick” on #beatthechasers, but knowing ITV, it will probably just be a stunt casting like Stephen Mulhern or Joe Pasquale.”
Another added: “that new chaser in #beatthechasers is joe pasquale i’d bet money on it.” A third wrote: “That’s Joe Pasquale under the mask #beatthechasers… The Mave and Rick joke is pure Joe. He’s also Brad’s best mate, and incredibly intelligent.”
The Chase has been hosted by Bradley Walsh for years, with no plans for that to change. Speaking about his long experience hosting the show, he said: “Until people say they’ve had enough and start switching off, I’ll do it.
“We’ve had such an extraordinary time together. It’s the best job in the world.” As well as The Chase, Bradley also appears on shows like Gladiators, Blankety Blank and he is joined by his son Barney on Breaking Dad.
