Adele made a rare public appearance on Sunday, attending the United States Grand Prix in Austin, Texas, after months away from the spotlight following her sold-out Las Vegas residency.

The 37-year-old singer was seen in the Mercedes AMG Formula One garage, beaming alongside drivers George Russell and Kimi Antonelli. Wearing a black button-down shirt and matching trousers, Adele showed off her toned figure and noticeable weight loss as she explored the pit lane.

This marked her first outing in six months, her previous public appearance being at an NBA game in Los Angeles with fiancé Rich Paul in April. While fans have occasionally noticed the Hello singer around Beverly Hills and Las Vegas, she has largely stayed out of the public eye this year.

Fans were disappointed when the 37-year-old revealed she was taking a “big break from music” last summer, during her Munich shows, where she performed a series of 10 concerts, the Mirror reports.

She said: “I will not see you for an incredibly long time. I just need a rest, I have spent the last seven years building a new life for myself, and I want to live it now.”

She also told German broadcaster ZDF: “My tank is quite empty at the minute. I don’t have any plans for new music at all. I want a big break after all this and I think I want to do other creative things just for a little while. You know, I don’t even sing at home at all. How strange is that?”

Although Adele, already mother to 13-year-old Angelo, was reportedly eager to start a family and hopes to have a baby girl with partner Rich Paul, it remains unclear whether the couple has secretly married following her divorce from ex Simon Konecki.

Amid her sudden disappearance from the public eye, reports suggest that the singer has other plans in motion. She is said to have been “purposefully” maintaining a “strict” low profile “more than ever” – possibly to pursue a long-held dream of teaching, a passion she hoped to follow before becoming famous.

Sources told the Daily Mail earlier this month that Adele has been “intentionally” keeping a very low profile.

“This is not new that she’s keeping her private life separate, she has a right to one, but it does have to be said that more than ever before she is going the extra mile to be strict about what she lets people see,” one insider explained. “It’s very different from last time, she’s purposefully keeping the public at bay.”

It’s believed that Adele has been pursuing a degree in English Literature, following through on her pre-fame dream of becoming a teacher. On the final night of her Vegas residency last November, she shared with fans: “I’m not doing anything else. I’m actually s***ing myself about what I’m going to do. I don’t have any f**ing plans. I guess I’ll just day-drink.”

Uncertain about when she’ll release new music or tour again, Adele admitted: “I just don’t know when I want to next come on stage. And it’s time to move on. It’s time for the next chapter and it’s time for the next season of my life.”

Looking to the future, Adele also shared her desire to grow her family, telling fans in 2024: “Once I’m done with all of my obligations and all of my shows, I want to have a baby.

“And I want to have a girl because I’ve already got a boy… With me as her mother and Rich as her father, my daughter’s going to be a bossy little queen, isn’t she?”
